Our History

DSS Consulting, Inc., has recently undergone a powerful and positive transformation in response to the growing needs of our customers. Once a “staffing and consulting services-only” firm, DSS has grown into a regional and national provider of information technology services and solutions. DSS now offers innovative, dynamic and scalable IT products and services, delivered with our award-winning, world-class customer support.

Our History

DSS Consulting, Inc., was founded as Diverse Staffing Services, an MBE-certified company established in April 1999. The company initially offered clients Internet development solutions and other IT and consulting services. However, company president and CEO Clyde D. Harris soon realized that the firm’s strength was embedded in its name and philosophy, “What makes DSS unique is a focus on diversity…in the people we place, the companies we serve and the services we provide.

Clyde understood that most corporate IT departments and HR directors tended to be over-tasked and often relied on such things as job boards and newspaper advertisements in order to find candidates for an open position in the firm. Clyde felt these methods never really encouraged diversity in the workplace. Nor did they guarantee that the most qualified candidates would be interviewing for those positions. DSS quickly identified a need in the marketplace.

In 2002, George D. Apgar joined the organization and gave focus to the corporate mission by helping to implement the DSS in-house custom, research-based national recruiting program. This integrated, metrics-driven staffing model allows DSS to identify, build and track large databases of skill-specific candidates needed to fill the targeted requirements of DSS corporate clients.

Today this innovative system allows clients to scan a database of thousands of the nation’s most highly-skilled candidates in the disciplines of information technology, engineering, healthcare / life sciences, technical sales / marketing, light industrial and business operations. Then DSS will work with the client to proactively recruit attractive “A-List” candidates from all over the country to work for corporate clients in a variety of capacities, including contract work, contract-to-hire, and direct hire roles.
